             Winterizing Steps: Washers and Icemakers

Washers:

With the siphon hose still attached, turn the dial on the washer unit to any cycle and the temperature selector to warm. Press the "on" button and wait until the pink liquid begins to run into the washer then turn the washer off. Advance the program selector to spin, turn the power back on and allow the drum to spin for 30 seconds. Then turn the power off.

ICEMAKERS

There are several styles of icemaker valves. These steps are for the typical consumer to perform without specific tools or equipment. Please refer to the three pictures for different mounting styles:

Mount #1: Solenoid on top

  • 1. Remove the outlet line and allow it to gravity drain
  • 2. Remove the inlet line, and briefly turn on the pump to allow some antifreeze to flow through.
  • 3. Some water will remain in the valve in this position; so either the valve will need to be removed and inverted to drain, or using a small straw (and some dexterity), suction (or blow) out the small amount of water from the inlet side of the valve.

 Mount #2: Solenoid on bottom

  • 1. Remove the outlet line and allow it to gravity drain
  • 2. Remove the inlet line, and briefly turn on the pump to allow some antifreeze to flow through.
  • 3. Some water will remain in the valve in this position; so either the valve will need to be removed and inverted to drain, or using a small straw (and some dexterity), suction (or blow) out the small amount of water from the oulet side of the valve.

Mount #3: Solenoid on side

  • 1. Remove the outlet line and allow it to gravity drain
  • 2. Remove the inlet line, and briefly turn on the pump to allow some antifreeze to flow through.
  • 3. Water gravity drains from the valve in this position.
